Balkan Grand Tour – 9 days, Sutjeska, Tara, Durmitor, Piva Lake

Balkan Grand Tour – 9 Days

Nine days through everything Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro have to offer. From the highest peak in BiH to a UNESCO canyon, from a rainforest thousands of years old to a river you remember for life — a tour you do once and talk about forever.

Sutjeska NP / Tara / Durmitor / Piva Lake / Foča

About the Tour

There are trips. And then there is the Grand Tour.

Nine days, two countries, several mountains, one rainforest, one river and one lake. Everything this corner of the Balkans has to offer — gathered into a single tour that has no pauses, but has a rhythm. Every day is different. Every day is powerful in its own way.

We begin on Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We end with a kayak on Piva Lake, surrounded by canyon walls reflected in the water. In between: mountain homesteads where people still live without electricity, a rainforest thousands of years old, a canyon you cannot forget, the Tara river carrying you without rush, the Durmitor ring road ranking among the top 10 drives of a lifetime, and the summit of Prutaš with a panorama that takes your breath away.

Petar is with you for all nine days. Licensed guide and skipper with fifteen years of experience — a man who knows every stone of this terrain and who knows when to stop and when to keep going.

This tour is not for those who want a hotel and a minute-by-minute programme. This tour is for those willing to give nine days and receive in return an experience that lasts a lifetime.

Transport is arranged by agreement from Belgrade, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Podgorica, Zagreb and Tirana. At the end of the tour we drive you back to your starting point — you only need to get here.

Itinerary

The group meets in Foča and we drive in off-road vehicles to Prijevor at around 1,520m. While the camping equipment is transported to Trnovačko Lake, we set off on the ascent to Maglić.

The climb takes around 3.5 to 4 hours. The view from the summit — Zelengora, Volujak, Lebršnik, Treskavica and the Adriatic in the distance. From the summit we descend to Trnovačko Lake where the camp and dinner await.

Evening by the fire on the shore of one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Balkans. No signal, no phones — just the fire, the group and the silence of the mountain.
