About the Tour
Camping at Trnovačko Lake and climbing Maglić is a unique mountain experience that combines the silence of a high-altitude camp, powerful nature, and the authentic way of life of the people of this region. During the tour we visit viewpoints above the Perućica rainforest, pass through traditional katuns where people still live as they did 300–400 years ago, and have breakfast with local hosts — freshly fried doughnuts, warm milk and homemade cream.
For three days we are without signal and electricity, relying on fire, camp and the mountain around us. Next to the camp there is a small mountain café where we can have a coffee, tea, beer or rakija and slowly end the day. Without rushing, with enough time for nature, conversation and a genuine experience of this place — this is a tour for those who want to feel the mountain, not just pass through it.
Highlights
Itinerary
Group meeting is at 12:30 in Foča. We recommend arriving 20–30 minutes early so we have time for introductions, gear check and a short briefing. At 13:00 we depart by off-road vehicles toward Prijevor, the starting point of the hike.
The drive takes around one and a half hours, after which we begin an easy mountain hike to Trnovačko Lake. The hike takes approximately 1.5 hours at a comfortable pace, adapted to the group, with breaks as needed.
Upon arrival at Trnovačko Lake we set up camp — tents, sleeping bags and the rest of the gear. The remainder of the day is reserved for rest, socialising and getting to know the group, with free time for a walk around the lake and enjoying the surroundings. The evening is spent at camp, in the peace and quiet of the mountain.
